Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Copdock Ladies EAPL v Woolpit Ladies on Sun 06 Jun 2021 at 13:00
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost by 6 runs

Match report Copdock took on Woolpit for the second time in 6 days, but this time in a 40 over EAPL game at the home of cricket.
With Woolpit batting first in the glorious Suffolk sunshine Copdock opened with Sophie and Petra seeking quick wickets. Alas the was not what eventuated with Woolpit smacking the ball around, aided by a bit of luck and some lapses in the field. At 125-0 after 20 overs the writing was on the wall but Copdock dragged the game from the fire due to Eliza making the breakthrough by castling the opener. From here Woolpit were restricted to 215-5 due to some tight bowling in the back overs with Sophie H taking a couple of key poles (thanks to smart catches from Liv and Phoebe) and Petra also chipping in after Rosy F had been unlucky to see a catch dropped of her bowling.
The reply was never going to be easy but Olivia and Frankie set about their task with a voracious hunger and got to 80 before Frankie was run out chasing an ambitious 2nd after a midfield. Her 46 was another well compiled innings and another big score to compliment her 80 odd in the first game.
Amelie came in at 3 and after Petra made an unlucky hole out to point she was joined by Beth who moved through the gears like a pro as they added 50 for the 3rd wicket. Both rotated the strike well until Amelie was also bowled trying to hit the ball into Washbrook. Beth continued to strike the ball cleanly and at 35 overs Beth and Amy had taken the score to 177. In the gloom Woolpit started making uncharacteristic fielding errors as the pressure rose. With 3 overs remaining, Copdock have reached 194 when Amy was unluckily run out after smacking ball around . Sophie H joined Beth for the final couple of overs with 20 needed to win. The tension was palpable ! Sophie and Beth ran hard to take the score over 200. 13 was needed of the final overs with Beth on 48 not out. Unfortunately despite Beth scoring a well constructed 53 she was yorked on the final ball denying Copdock a deserved victory by 6 runs.
