Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club - Junior Q&A

Junior Q&A

1. What time should I arrive?:
Please arrive up to 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled session, there will be a briefing and register at the scheduled start time ie 9am on a Sunday for u/11, up until this point parents are respectfully reminded that the welfare and safety of the children remains their responsibility. Please ensure you are also on site on time to collect your child at the end of every session, at which you will be asked to sign your child out.

2. What clothing should my child wear for training and matches?
We have a pretty informal dress code for training, any track suit bottoms etc will do. Copdock "blue training clothing" is available to buy via the website, but this is not in any way mandatory. The key is for your child to wear lots of layers, if a child is unsuitably dressed ie just turns up in a shirt on a cold day they will not be allowed to train on welfare grounds . In addition all players must wear caps, any again will do but club ones will be available to buy. In addition please ensure your child brings sun cream on any sunny days.
For those players in under 7, under 9 Boys u11 and Girls u11 and 13 we play in Blues, preferably Copdock but matching is fine.

For boys u13 and u15 we play in whites.

3. What equipment do I need to bring?
The club has lots of equipment ie bats/pads/gloves/helmets etc for those who do not have, so don't worry if you don't have all the gear. The one mandatory exception is for those training/batting with hard cricket balls ie under 11 upwards all players must bring their own box and appropriate support, no boxer shorts, if they don't they cannot bat for safety reasons.

4. Do I need to bring food or drink?
The breakfast club is open supplying drinks and snax, Please ensure you bring sufficient non fizzy fluid to support the full 90 minutes of active training. Full seating and WIFI is available and we encourage all parents to stay and support their children's learning.

5. What happens about matches?
Your lead coach will talk to you over the course of the first few training sessions about how selection will work, and equally what parental help they need.

6. Can I just bring along a friend?
Whilst we welcome new members space permitting they must have contacted our members secretary and have filled in members forms and paid before they can attend a session.

7. How do I know if training is cancelled?
Please check the clubs website, we will update any cancellation a minimum of 60 minutes before the start time of any session.
