Match report The Copdock Ladies got off to a flying start against Battisford at the Oval. Battisford won the toss and looking down at the track decided to bat, this decision seemed questionable when their opener Coe was only able to watch as Beth Quintons yorker sent her packing 3 balls into the innings. Battisford then settled into the pace of the game and a combination of Starlet Long and Stalwart Doughty picked off the singles, they were also grateful for the numerous extras being offered by a young Copdock side. With 40 being added for the second wicket Copdock chipped away with 2 run outs and Holly Mayhew grabbing a good catch on the run from the bowling of Elske Kelly. Doughty lived up to her name by seeing of the returning pace attack of Cousins and Quinton but Beth finished as she started as Webb pulled a bouncer straight to Captain Locke at square leg. Battisford 79-5.
Olivia Locke wasted no time at all in chasing down the modest target,enjoying the lions share of the strike she drove and pulled confidently on her way to 44 not out, Elske Kelly was unfortunate to be run out but had already played her part in Copdocks chase. Mai Easton joined Oliva at the crease to steer the ladies home with ease.
A great start to the season by a team missing some players due to exams, the youngsters and development players who stepped in did themselves and the club proud. The team effort was completed by David and Tim with their umpiring and scoring and everyone else who helped with teas and packing away. Thanks to all for a job well done.
