Match report After our disappointing postponements The girls season finally got underway with a long trip to Stradbroke to take on North Suffolk Girls. With a largely depleted squad we made the trip with a team of six including Amelie playing up an age group from the u11's.

Bethany won the toss and elected to field. Enjoying a warm and sunny afternoon and with the team being short on numbers this enabled all girls to share the fifteen bowling overs between them, with Holly and Felita sharing their three overs along with wicket keeping duties.

We soon found the North Suffolk openers in stubborn form and between the two of them they batted what seemed like almost the entire innings until North Suffolk's coach retired one of the pair. Emma then took the wicket of the remaining opener and it was clear the key to restricting North Suffolk to a lower score would have been to remove this pair earlier, as the end of their partnership was followed by something of a collapse with 3 runouts occuring in the final over.

So a target of 78 to win off 15 overs at a rate of just over 5 an over was set. Opening the batting for Copdock, Felita and Katie set about the task immediately, taking quick singles when there really didn't look to be a run on at all!

The opening pair had put on 30 for the first wicket when Katie's off stump was removed by a fabulous delivery by North Suffolk's most dangerous bowler.

Beth joined Felita in the middle and it was a very mature partnership that saw Copdock home with over 2 overs to spare. A real lesson in game management, understanding what was required to get the team home in a game of few wickets.

So a win to start the season and the final positive to mention, Beth, Katie and Emma's bowling, conceding 10 or less from their 3 overs, Emma with a wicket. It was a fantastic effort all round for our first game, thanks Girls.
