Match report Well, well, well..... The Mighty Abberton and ex England A players were welcomed to the spiritual home of much of the side this week, as we played at Ipswich School.

Eek won the toss and elected to bat…. After his hundred the week before Teeth Thomas was retain as opener, this time with Sasha. They got us off to slow start, but Gilroy from Abberton steamed in down the hill and bowled with good pace and carry. He got both openers to duck and dive and gave Thomas a bloody good working over… However the kids put on 60. Thomas went on to score a excellent 50. Ben was then out first ball to the Ex England A spinner! And Flopdock were wobbling slightly.

Pidge steadied the ship with another 50 and was joined by Nose, batting in his accustomed number 6 position for the last time ever!!!!!!! Nose reverse swept beautifully and hit the gaps pulling the field around and was joined by Ashwin who, in contrast, smashed it all over the school field…. It was clear to see that the old school boys enjoy this arena…. So we ended up on 240 ish…. Probably 20 short of where we could have been … but a good finish and Ashwin made a statement and put his hand up for selection in future!! Also… Sharpey didn’t get in …perfect!!

Well Copdock took to the field, Nose came steaming in down the hill and with Benny at the other end, they took 3 early wickets… Nose also breaking the toe of “ England A “….lol…excellent!

Well Eek had seen enough and new that Abberton didn’t have too much depth.. so he took the seamers out of the attack and came on himself for more cheap wickets!! A theme that has gone throughout the season.

Eek picked up five and Pidge helped himself to 2 wickets and Abberton fell away!

A good day for the O.I’s with Hugh, Ashwin, Nose and Pidge scoring runs…. And Nose, Pidge and Eek picking up wickets… A lot to be said for playing at Ipswich school!!!

20 points .. the league gets closer!!!!
