    Ben was born in Brunei on 14 May 1982. He was educated at Bromsgrove School, Worcestershire. Ben is a talented sportsman, specifically at rugby and cricket. He played rugby for the Midlands and was selected for the England under 18 rugby squad at fly half. However, he decided to pursue a career in cricket which was his preferred sport.



    Ben played at all levels of age group cricket whilst living in Oxfordshire and played for Hampshire U19’s in the 2000 – 2001 season. He has experienced cricket in Australia where he opened the batting at First Grade for Parramatta CC and North Sydney CC

    He moved to Suffolk in 2001 and trialled for two First Class counties, Kent and Essex. He was also selected to open the batting for Suffolk CCC. At the end of the 2002 season he topped the Minor Counties batting averages and was voted Suffolk Cricketer of the year. 2002 was a prolific year with the bat for Ben culminating in a 2 year contract with Derbyshire CCC.




    During his first season at Derbyshire Ben averaged 60.6 and was made 2nd X1 cricketer of the year. He made two first class 50’s in 11 First Class games. In his second year he again averaged over 60 for the 2nd X1 but unfortunately was released by Derbyshire at the end of the 2005 season. Ben returned to Suffolk and continues to open the batting for the county. He was a member of the Suffolk CCC team who won the MCCA knockout Trophy at Lords in 2007.
