Match report Under 11's Copdock Eagles Super 8 League Match Wednesday 1st May vs Hadleigh Under 11's

Match Report

On a Sunny evening at Copdock, in which the under 11s Eagles team
were playing their first league match of the season, the Eagles captain Billy Foyster won the toss and decided to field.

When Hadleigh batted there was some excellent opening bowling from Kavish Patel and George Wood, with both bowling fast and accurate and after 4 overs Hadleigh had 1 run and had lost 3 wickets, the rest of the bowling was very good and accurate too and the final bowling figures for each of the 7 Cardinal bowlers used was:

Kavish: 1 wicket for 4 runs in 3 overs.
George: 2 wickets for 6 runs in 3 overs.
Ishann Rakesh: 1 wicket for 15 runs in 3 overs.
Freddie Skinner 3 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs.
Alex Kelly: 1 wickets for 9 runs in 2 overs.
Billy: 0 wickets for 9 run in 2 overs.
Henry Lamb: 1 wickets for 12 run in 2 overs.

So at the end of the innings Freddie bowled really well and straight to take 3 wickets, and 6 of the 7 bowlers all took wickets, so a good effort from all the bowlers.

The Eagles managed to take 9 wickets and bowled 2 maidens, hence increasing their batting score by 33 runs and Hadleigh reached 84 runs at the end of their 18 overs.

There was some good wicket keeping on show from Harry Nath too, with his glove work very good throughout the innings.

When the Eagles batted Kavish and Freddie opened the batting and got the Eagles off to steady start, Freddie played a lovely shot on the offside for 4, before he was bowled for 5, Kavish was joined by Harry and both went on to retire, with Kavish 28 not out and Harry for 12 not out, then Ishann and Billy came to the wicket and both batted well, and with some excellent running between the wickets in particular from Billy, causing Hadleigh to rush and over throw extra runs to the Eagle’s on several occasions. Both retired Ishann retiring for 17 and Billy retiring for 9, then George and Henry both came to the wicket and George played some lovely shots to end up 18 not out and Henry finished 5 not out at the end of the Eagles innings.

So well done to all the lads for some good batting throughout the innings.

At the end of the Eagles innings they had reached 127 for 3 wickets, meaning the Eagles’s with their wickets and maidens extra runs, had reached 160 runs in total and Hadleigh had increased their score to 96 with their wickets and maidens, so the Eagles won the game by 64 runs.

The highlight of the night was Freddie’s catch of Henry’s bowling and seeing the happiness on both their faces when it happened.

Well done to all the lads for their efforts and performance levels throughout the game.

Thank you also to Ric Foyster for his coaching support and Alistair Kelly for his efforts on the scoring and to Dan Skinner for umpiring for us too.

All the best
