Match report ECB U15 Club T20 - London & East (Round 2)

COPDOCK won the toss and elected to bowl.

After a long journey with plenty of hold ups along the way we finally arrived at the picturesque but slightly slopy Berkhamsted Cricket Club. Captain Billy elected to bowl first on what looked to be a greenish track that may prove hard to score on. Opening bowlers Stan - great wheels today and Jack with his controlled off spin promptly gained the upper hand and bowled beautiful opening spells each picking up 2 wickets. Pace at one end and spin at the other appeared to work well and the Copdock bowlers regularly picking up wickets with the assistance of some good fielding including a direct hit run out by the skipper. By now the opposition were reduced to trying to slog their way out of trouble but the innings was wrapped up in 17 overs with the score of just 79. The half time chat urging level heads and sensible batting with the feeling that this would win us the game. A patient start saw both Jack and Harrison put on 41 for the first wicket and we were half way there and cruising. Unfortunately a mini middle order collapsed started and all of a sudden the boys were rushing off to pad up. However, a quick fire 21 from the skipper and a cool head from Barney under pressure saw us home with 5 wickets remaining. Lots of learning today and many positives to take forward into the next round. Well done boys you did COPDOCK proud.
