Match report First team Vs Exning ( the Mighty ) 18tth April, year of our Lord 2009.

Well after Nose had been refused permission to play ( and turned up with Breakfast for everyone I may add, except for Ashwin's Bean McMuffin) and some idiot let Reuben up a ladder with a rope.... the game began with Copdock bowling first. The track was far harder than expected... Short's use of Dave Little's book "pitch preparation by Numbers" had gone very well. Exning proved that if people actually like you then they may join your club. They had attracted 4 decent new players... Copdock gave debuts to Ashwin and Harry Cook. Burchy started his record equalling 43rd year of local cricket. Nose ( who scored over 325 runs for the club last year ) was asked for Hand warmers by Hugh after 5 balls..... the boy is an idiot. Exning progressed to 83-2 with Harry bowling well in his first spell for the first team. I was shocked that he was given down hill with the wind over the pro, but them the brakes. Harry and Sasha took the first two wickets to fall... then the Copdock power house of France, Swallow and Eek got to work and with the help of some excellent fielding shot through Exning's strong batting line up for a small total of 138 in 45 overs and left Copdock 55 for the chase. I spoke to Stucky ( the Umpire ) at tea and told him I'd seen Reuben spit on his car before play.... He promptly triggered Sharpe in the first over for 0. Excellent work!! Ben France remarkably batted for 104 balls before he got of the mark. He then took another 316 reaching a total of 8 before his shame caught up with him and he offered a simple catch and ran off, head bowed. Archie looked fluent for his 18 before playing all round a straight half volley....Pidge played his usual odd looking hockey shots and made it to 21 beofre the leagues worst off spinner bowled him.. a poor death for a Minor County all-rounder. Thomas stood in the middle for a while before stomping back with a naught!! Nelly stroked the ball around with gay abandon for a strangly compiled 54. Ashwin steadied the ship and saw the boys home with 20 not out under extreme pressure. Sasha, as normal tried to steal the glory by bashing the winning runs to the fence!!!!! Sickening!!

All in all a great first game for the team. The fielding was great, apart from Reuben's throw.. what the hell was that??? The catching first class... the bowling good and Ben's opening spell was first rate...After 7 overs he'd gone for 2 runs... Noselike is the only word that fits that!!!!! Nelly's batting excellent.... Ashwin's seeing the side home on debut was also great.... the whole effort and contibution for everyone was really Top notch.... It will be hard to get back into this side!!!! Well Done To All.
