Mistley II v Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 25 Apr 2015 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report Another convincing win for the Scoobies, as they defeated their Mistley counterparts by 7 wickets with 15 overs to spare.
Despite the morning rain, Copdock and OI’s second string arrived at their opponent’s picturesque Stour valley ground to find the usual excellent firm, dry pitch which has come to be expected.
Changes had been made from the previous weeks side – St Archie was up north gallivanting with his ‘unay’ mates, Reuben was ticking off one of his ‘Bucket List’ wishes by going to Legoland, Ashwin had his head in his books for some forthcoming exams and Fergus was unavailable due to school commitments.
There was a welcome return to the side for Felix, ‘Reg’ Hollis, El Presidente Dutch Holland and Nick Meakin kindly came in as an eleventh hour replacement for Ricey who had been called up to the 1s.
Importantly, we had two umpires for the first time this season which staved off some of the pre match whingeing by Wootton and a slightly ‘under the weather’ East.
Opposition Captain, Everett won the toss and, somewhat surprisingly, given their side was a little understrength, elected to bat.
Mistley started their innings solidly if somewhat unspectacularly, against the guile of Jenkin and the medium pace ACF from Underwood, reaching 30 before the first wicket fell in the 14th over. The change bowlers, Felix who replaced Gunder at the bowls club end and Eek for Jenko at the graveyard end, tightened the stranglehold on the Mistley batsmen and despite just losing two more wickets by the 35th over they had only progressed to 100 on what seemed a superb batting track.
At this point, the home side, realising their score was well short of par, tried to increase the run rate and wickets started to tumble to the returning Jenkin and Eek. Barwood, who had come in at 5, in particular, played positively, taking advantage of the short straight boundaries with some clean hitting, to achieve a well made half century. He fell in the final over to East, who was struggling after a late night, and helped boost his sides total to 160/8 at tea.
The fielding had improved from the previous weeks efforts with Dutch going above and beyond the call of duty by crashing into a hedge in an effort to prevent a boundary ! Jenko and Eek again took the bowling honours, with 3 and 4 wickets respectively, and somehow Felix’s 7 overs only went for 11 runs !
Copdock opened their innings with Felix and Adam Hopkins and the Bristolian Russian student was soon into his stride, stroking boundaries on both sides of the wicket, as the excellent batting surface was put into context. Adam was watchful at first before he too got into his stride. The first wicket pair put on 78 before Fe was adjudged LBW for a classy 44. This brought John ‘Harry Lime’ Percival, together with his black socks to the crease and he confused everybody by stroking a magnificent extra cover drive to the fence for his first scoring shot !
Runs flowed as Mistley switched their bowlers with none able to keep a lid on the scoring rate. JP was particularly severe on the slow bowlers, sending a number of deliveries out of the ground, and Adam joined in the fun, hitting the leg spinner for two successive sixes. Both batsmen, having reached their half centuries, were out with the winning total in sight, leaving Reg to smash the winning runs with two fours and Sexy getting the opportunity to hit a couple of balls in the middle for the first time this season.
This win now extends the seconds run, since we were last beaten to fourteen games, long may it continue.

Match awards:-
Tommy Cooper Blooper – Dutch for his argument with the hedge (narrowly beating JP and his poor socks)
Brian Lara Tiara – Adam for his maiden Copdock 50.
