Match report Results-wise, a straightforward victory for the Eagles, in their first league match this season.

Captain Alex won the toss and put East Bergholt into bat, restricting them to just 29 runs off the bat, but giving away a massive 49 extras: mainly wides and byes disappearing over the boundary, with an overthrow boundary thrown-in for good measure. Whilst in general the bowling (all bowlers going for less than a run a ball), fielding and keeping was good, what let the team down was the fielding positioning, especially behind the batsman, with fielders standing too close or directly behind the keeper.

However, with eight wickets taken, the result was never really in doubt even before the Copdock innings. The best bowling performance was from Jack Hart, with 4 wickets for 10 runs off 3 overs.

To their credit, East Bergholt put up a good bowling and fielding performance, unfortunately also let down by too many balls disappearing over the boundary without hitting anything (either wides or byes). Unfortunately for them, their more accurate bowling just made it a bit easier for our more experienced batters, with all the top four scoring over a run a ball (always the target for Super 8's), with the best performance coming from Thomas Elliston, who, unbeaten, struck 26 off 13 balls including 5 fours and a six.

Overall, an enjoyable match, played in good weather and a good spirit by both sides. Some good performances from the boys, but those fielding errors will come back to haunt when facing stiffer opposition.

Thanks to Twinkle for coaching and Ben for scoring, whilst my arms got plenty of exercise at the bowlers' end.
