Match report Copdock's young'uns make good impression.

I cannot comment on the early stages of the game as I wasn't there but rumours spread round the ground like wildfire that Captain Gunderwood dropped a catch early on. Wheaton and Gunderwood were forced to do some containing bowling, even though Secret picked up two early scalps. Wheaton bowling well with control, showing good promise for the future as a spinner... Unfortunately for Copdock dropped catches were ever present in the performance. The author was unfortunately subjected to 20 minutes of technical backgammon lingo from Gauke and Burch Snr.
Into bat Copdock went with the dynamic opening partnership of A.Smith and Gunderwood. Surprisingly it was Gunderwood who was first to go, caught having a hoik. Butch looked in imperious form, outlasting the Bursar also! Eventually Burch and Ward came to the crease, and for the first time Copdock looked threatening. The pair batting with maturity waiting for the bad ball. They put on over 100 for the 5th wicket, the partnership only broken by a freak dismissal, the fielder it was apparent hadn't noticed that the spinner had been taken off and that it was a seamer on. Ward smashed a pull shot straight to the ghost at 45 on the one, for a fine knock of 68. Burch carried on but lost his way 2 short of a maiden 50. Unfortunately Wheaton and Read departed to gift Fox a slightly fortunate Hat-trick. Some good batting from Secret and Cherry got Copdock to full batting points.
