Match report Under 11's Boys Copdock Cardinals Super 8 League Match Tuesday 30th April vs Felixstowe Under 11's

Match Report

On a cold but sunny evening at Felixstowe, in which the under 11s Cardinals team
were playing their first league match of the season, (and after the fun and games of trying to get to Felixstowe, with the Orwell Bridge being closed for 2 hours, 7 of the 8 lads eventually managed to get to the game, so a great effort from all) the Cardinals won the toss and decided to bat.

Kavish Patel and William Menzies opened the batting and got the Cardinals off to a really good start, putting on a 50 run Partnership for the first wicket, before both retired, Kavish for 25 and William for 23, Ishann Rakesh and Archie Miller then both came together at the crease and they also put on a 50 run Partnership before they both retired too, Ishann for 20 Archie M for 27, this then brought Tait Ferguson 11 not out and Archie Lawson 10 not out, to the wicket and they both put on a 25 run partnership, before the innings closed with the Cardinal’s score on 137 for 0 from their 16 overs. Well done to all 6 lads who all batted well.

When Felixstowe batted there was some fine opening bowling from Kavish and Archie M, with both bowling fast and accurate, the rest of the bowling was good and accurate too and the final bowling figures for each of the 6 Cardinal bowlers used was:

Kavish: 2 wickets for 10 runs in 3 overs.
Archie M: 0 wickets for 3 runs in 3 overs.
Ishann: 3 wickets for 5 runs in 3 overs.
Gautham Vijaykumar: 1 wicket for 4 runs in 3 overs.
Tait: 0 wickets for 10 runs in 2 overs.
Archie L: 0 wickets for 1 run in 2 overs.

The Cardinal’s managed to take 6 wickets and bowled 0 maidens, hence increasing their batting score by 18 runs to a total of 155.

There was some excellent wicket keeping on show from William too, with his glove work exceptional, throughout the whole innings. (William is the Suffolk under 11’s wicket keeper and has joined our club this season and lucky we are to have him).

The highlight of the night was a flying backward, one handed catch, from Ishann, whilst fielding at point, and so good was the catch, even though I was umpiring and probably shouldn’t have done so, but I got caught up in the moment and I just had to go and high five Ishann for an unbelievable catch.
At the end of Felixstowe’s innings they had reached 53 for 6 wickets, meaning the Copdock Cardinal’s had one the game by 102 runs.
Well done to all the lads for their efforts and performance levels throughout the game.
