Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost By 32 runs

Match report Having been defeated in the semi final the 3rd / 4th place match had to be played. Obviously the disappointment of losing and the short turnaround time from the first game meant that everyone was tired emotionally and physically. However, with changes made this could still be a great opportunity to play some cricket against another good side.
Richmond won the toss and elected to bat first. The Richmond openers decided to be really aggressive and once again Lewis picked up an LBW. Batsmen 2&3 both retired with a 101 off 61 partnership putting all 8 Copdock bowlers to the sword. Richmond ending on 175-2 and probably wondering what had gone wrong in their semi final match having batted so well in this one. Credit to all the bowlers for persevering and Rory for doing a good job behind the stumps.
Changes to the normal batting order saw others get an opportunity to bat and try and chase this formidable total. A much better performance with the bat Tom& Sam put on 42 for the first wicket. Lewis & James adding 33 followed by Kajeai and Varun’s 24 meant that Copdock were in a much healthier position. Copdock closing on 143-5 which was 32 short but a much improved performance all round.
It’s never easy to travel a long way starting early and finishing late and even later due to the weather but the experience of a last 16 finish in a National Competition should be something for everyone to look back proudly on. These opportunities rarely come round but are throughly desevered for this great group of young players. Thanks to all the parents for their support and help with the day as a whole.
