Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 132 runs

Match report
On a very hot and sunny evening, at IES Cricket Club, the Copdock Lions lost the toss and were put into bat.
The Lions started their innings well, with Shaanjael Thareetharen scoring a quick fire 32, off just 16 balls, before he had to retire and he was well supported by James Fisherden who scored 15, before he had to retire too, with these two putting on over 50 runs before they had to both retire. This brought together Connor Holdcroft and captain Algie Anderson and these two put on further 60 runs, before Connor retired on 28 and Algie retired on 30, with the captain hitting one big six in his innings too. This then brought together Louis Hembry and Arthur Nath and these two kept the run rate high towards the back end of the innings too, with Louis 26 not out and Arthur 18 not out, so when the Lions innings ended, after their 18 overs, they had reached at a very impressive 174 for 0 wickets.
When IES batted, the Lions bowlers took control from the start, with some good bowling from all, but in particular Harry Charlton with 2 wickets, for just 2 runs, from his three overs, and Aditka Maheshwar with 3 wickets, for just 1 run, from his three overs, being the stand out bowlers, but there was also a wicket each for Aman Khan who took 1 for 6, in his three overs and for Arthur who took 1 for 0, from his one over. Freddie Foyster also bowled well, only conceding 6 runs, from his 3 overs and was unlucky on several occasions not to take a wicket.
There was some good fielding by all too, with Edward Townrow keeping wicket well also, especially against the spin bowling from Harry and Aditka, and there were also 3 run outs during the innings too, with the pick of the bunch being a direct hit from Captain Algie, to run out their last batsmen, and at the end of their 18 overs IES had been bowled out for just 42. Meaning the Lions had won the game by 132 runs.
So a good team performance from the Lions, and whilst there is still lots to work on and improve, in various areas of our game, there was lots of encouraging improvements being seen from all the team.
Well done to all the IES players for giving 100% and giving their best throughout the 36 overs and a thank you to both Freddie’s dad, Richard for scoring, and to Aditka’s dad, Mahesh for umpiring too.
Man of the match goes to the whole team for an excellent all round team performance.
