Match report After last weeks defeat at Bardfield the 2nds looked to bounce back at the Oval against bottom side IES. Two further debuts were handed out to Luke Froggatt and the returning Andrew Whitehead. East lost the toss and Flopdock were inserted. Percival and Snorey opened up, with Percival keen to "get on with it". So keen in fact that he missed the first ball of the innings, a straight half volley and was soon sitting with the rest of us to watch Kaarl accumulate runs against a disciplined IES attack. Despite never truly looking in too much trouble we were largely unable to cut loose and increase the tempo. As Leggett and Mex looking to accelerate both perished as did Hollis and Froggatt, before Snorey added another notch to his coffin with the run out of Whitehead. Eventually overs expired, robbing Kaarl of what would have been a deserved century, with Copdock at 171 for 7, probably 60 to 70 short, though with a varied bowling attack, a total possible of defending.
Towers opened the bowling from the pavillion end, picking up two wickets, te second courtesy of a stunning Leggett catch at cover. The wickets however did little to stem the flow of runs and despite some decent bowling, including debut wickets for Whiehead and Froggatt IES were always ahead of the rate, evntually coasting home with 10 overs left.
