Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club

IES v Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Copdock Panthers U11 on Fri 28 Jul 2017 at 6pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won By 35 runs

Match report The girls turned up to a dreary and breezy evening at Chantry Park. With Amy as captain, we won the toss and chose the bat first. Amy, having played some sport throughout the day, had a leg injury and required a runner thus giving the girls a quick education in the complexities of three batters on the field! They managed it well and got the girls off to a great start. The opening pair of Amy and Caitlyn top scored with some pairs struggling to get runs off wide balls. We ended a good innings with 293.
Our bowling was tight and with the odd wides thrown in the mix but we were able to keep the relatively new side from IES to 258. The IES girls, in their first season with some girls having never played cricket before this summer played well and showed some excellent all-round skills and will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. Our Copdock girls showed a lot of team spirit and while just a friendly, played with confidence and a competitive nature.
