Match report 2016 Suffolk Cup Winners!!

A freshly watered pitch (30 minutes before the game) and spinners opening the bowling made batting difficult until Frog got hold of a full toss and hit it for 6. He continued punishing bad bowling on his way to 30*. Will Bailey was run out going for a quick single, looking to increase the tempo of the innings. 32 off 10 overs. Will Marston rotated the strike well to finish on 17* ably supported by James Whittle who ran hard to put the Mildenhall fielders under pressure. Colby bowled extremely well bowling left-arm over yorkers clean bowling Tweedy and Coe within two balls before bowling Whittle with a brilliant Hat-trick ball but a no-ball was called. Mildenhall had their own fortunate umpiring, with a few wides not called. Some more aggressive batting towards the end of the innings meant we finished on 83-3 off our 20 overs.

Sam and Cameron opened up and swung the ball and dismissed Cobbold early on. Colby backed up his good bowling with some fluent batting at the top of the innings. J Jones was superbly run out trying to pinch a single which allowed his brother to arrive at the crease. Millions removed the dangerous G Jones as 12th man Ben Tweedy taking a brilliant catch. Coe produced a full stretch dive on the boundary to stop a certain 4 Coe and Whittle were then introduced into the attack and bowled the best spell of fast bowling I've seen in an U13 match. They both bowled with pace and swing to regularly pick up wickets and put the batters under real pressure despite the umpires best efforts to wide every ball that was slightly wide of the batsman. Whittle was very unlucky not to pick up a hat-trick of his own, but the LBW decision was turned down despite missing off, missing leg stump and hitting middle!!

6 needed to win off the last 12 balls and Coe bowls a fantastic maiden over before Sam wrapped up the final wicket with a chipped catch to Marston who caught it on the second chance. To win away at Mildenhall in a cup final is a massive achievement for this group of players. Brentwood away in the next round of this national competition.
