Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 2nd XI v Brockley on Sat 25 Jun 2016 at 1pm
Match was Abandoned

Match report Having returned from the twilight zone of Little Bardfield the winbus was back where we were two weeks ago - looking forward to another Oval outing though worried the weather might intervene again. A similar story as well in the warm up as the old 'uns, using an economy of effort passed the young 'uns off the pitch. A particularly pleasing East (JR) and Jenkin move rounding things off and securing another victory.

Two panel umpires meant there was less likely to be decisions the like of which were seen the previous week and soon all had agreed to a 35 over game with Flopdock batting first. A return to Suffolk meant Sharpe was available again, somehow braving the pain in his ankle, narrowly avoiding having to have it amputated during the week. With Gravell nervously avoiding the club following the revelation that Kaarl was in the drug squad, fit young thing Adam Hopkins returned to open up with Reuben. Thankfully Gravell should now be free to return as Kaarl has been seconded elsewhere for the remainder of the season. Hoppy soon showed his Premier League form clothing one to mid off for 0 as things began slowly. Nose and Reuben took things to 50 before Nose chipped tamely to midwicket. Reubs soon began shifting through the gears and despite the loss of luckless Thomas (your guess is as good as anyone elses as to whether he was "caught behind" or LBW) was passed fifty in the blink of an eye. As Run Machine Kaarl got himself in, Reuben continued his assault, particularly severe with anything short, as he often is. The introduction of a slow bowler threatened to derail Reuben but he got to 96 before holing out. By the time he'd left, a good score was a certainty and it was left to Jenko and Kaarl to add the finishing touches and turn a good effort into a very good one as Flopdock finished 209 for 5 and Kaarl with another red inker.

The clouds began amassing at tea and when we resumed Ironfist knew quick wickets were needed. With Nose loping in down hill and looking dangerous straight away Ironfist himself started up the hill. The Bhaji Hunter began well and soon had his first snaffle with a decision in the same arena as the one Thomas got earlier. This proved to be the last action of the day other than pulling on the covers. Despite Ironfist keeping us there for longer than it took to search the entire changing room for a missing onion bhaji and the sun briefly returning we were unable to get back out again. A Klinnsman dive by umpire Rolf Harris during a pitch inspection proving to be the last act of the day.

Sachin Sombrero - Reuben - great knock, shots all round the wicket and a welcome return to runs

Carl Hooper Blooper - Hoppy - looking good for the duck bat.
