Match report Following the juvenile abuse I suffered at the hands of what turned out sadly to be the majority; I am struggling to fight back the tears as I write what can only be described as a ball ache of a report.

I met Jono ‘Olbas Oil’ Absolon this week, a fine fellow. I had to wait to see him bowl and sat and watched the solid start our top 4 created on a flat pitch with a fantastic outfield. I asked their groundsman if he asked for a massage on club expenses, he said no, mind you looking at him he could do with one.

Anyway, Baker 73 and Banham 92 not out, were my pick of the batsman. I walked past Baker to join Banham in the middle (on 67). As I approached him he looked at me with distress upon his face, he looked like he had been in a Jacob’s cream cracker eating competition. Obviously knackered I called for a drink for him and encouraged him to get a hundred. He looked at me in disbelief, but what a great effort and not far off!

We totalled 247, a good score but unfortunately not enough. We bowled well and for a couple of silly slip ups on the catching front we put in a good fielding display. My mate Jono bowled well and returned figures 14-1-47-1. Good figures on any day and particularly in the context of this game. Long serving member and wicket taker S Catchpole was relegated to 3rd change. I found this hard to believe. If twat features actually one the toss our bowlers could have the new ball!!!

It all came down to the last ball and sadly with 2 to win, it got hit over the infield for four. A good game however – all to do next week, although the forecast is already arse wiping bad!
