Match report Off to a flyer!
The Crusaders began their league campaign against Sudbury and it was a brilliant display by the lads! Jacob and Matt got us off to a good start going at 9 runs an over before Jacob departed for a classy 36 off 33. Archie joined Matt and caught fire! By his own admission he hadn't batted well this season but something must have clicked. Arch smashed his way to 52 (retired) off just 20 balls including 4 sixes, 2 of which would have been 6's on any test pitch in England. Apologies to the homeowner where one of the balls landed!! The other batters kept things ticking along before Sam whacked his first ball for 6, missing Alex's Clio by a few feet! 188 for 5 was a great score but with small boundaries it could have been chased down easily.
That wasn't the case as no Sudbury batsman settled, as the bowlers tore through the Sudbury lineup, ably helped by some awesome fielding. Harry Knights bowled superbly to end up with 3 wickets whilst also getting a run out from the boundary rope. Spinner bowled with good control for his 1-19 including a rare 20/20 maiden! Big thanks to Charlie for being 12th man and giving it 100% in the field and also thanks to Sudbury for being fantastic hosts.
A near perfect performance by the Crusaders as we kick off the league season with a win and 5 crucial points!
