Match report On a lovely summers evening the Dragons welcomed Easton to the " Oval". The dragons welcomed in an number of new faces which gave the team a fresh look.
Batting first Dan hit the first ball for 4 with a good square cut, and this set the tone generally for a good team betting effort.
On a good pitch, and with the outfield very fast runs came at a lick. Dan retired in the 6th over having made a classy 33, Oli M, ( now known as periscope) kept up the good work with a good 33 himself, and after a lucky reprieve, the skipper showed he can bat well with a good 30. With only 16 coming off the last 3 overs we slowed a bit but 166 was a good effort.
Skipper Stace started well and was unlucky not to key the key man caught first ball, James W bowled well at the other end , and when Stace got his man in the 5th over with the score on 32 we were in box position.
Not for the first time though we failed to press home the advantage, some lethargic fielding, numerous missed run out opportunities and a constant stream of extras along with some decent Easton batting kept the board ticking, and the game open. Tom H bowled nicely on debut, and young William stace( a kind support for our 11th man no show) bowled 2 very good overs at the end. Word of Praise for Alex in the field who was excellent, and a great direct hit run out from Dan on the boundary.
So in the end a comfortable 39 run victory, our batting improves but our performance in the field still below what I feel we ought to be achieving given our capabilities.
Final game against Fandcy next week with the league still statistically a possibility.
