Match report Sunday morning saw many young cricketers step over the rope and take to the field for the first time in 'hard ball cricket', the first of many I'm sure...

Suffolk under 10`s showed no sign of debut nerves however, and displayed some fantastic maturity and courage early on in there innings. It didn't take long before shots were flowing freely off the bat from Ollie Gallop and Louis Francis-Smith, the young batsman were taking on shots that players twice their age would be pleased with.
The young Copdock side showed great patience and waited for the chances to come, and after some good bowling in the middle overs from the left armer Max Toombs and the right arm of Jack Lewis a chance finally came... unfortunately for Copdock however, the chance came and went. Along with this chance, and a couple of other half chances, Suffolk gave nothing away and batted right through. Suffolk U10`s finished on a very respectable 148!

After a quick break between the innings(allowing enough time for a bacon roll for the coaches)Copdock came out knowing that there was plenty of work to be done. After a nervy start and a couple of mistakes on the communication front Copdock started to chip away at the score. Young Jack Lewis, who also had a decent game with the ball batted with great intent, playing some fantastic back foot drives that warranted extra runs.
Suffolk U10`s kept it tight and bowled accurately, which created problems for the Copdock side and although they were all out for 70 it was a great effort against a decent bowling side.

Although the game wasn't the closest, both sides gained valuable experience and I feel it was a great learning curve for all players involved.
