Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 2nd XI v Great Bromley on Sat 07 Jun 2014 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost by 4 wickets

Match report The Second Team’s losing run continued on Saturday with a disappointing defeat to Great Bromley.
There looked little chance of any sort of game being played as, after a week of fine dry weather, Saturday arrived with thunder and heavy showers. Thankfully, due to the efforts of the curator, we were able to start at 1.45pm having agreed with Gt Bromley to reduce the match to 40 overs per side.
Having elected to bat, the first over summed up Copdock 2s season so far. Holland feathered a catch behind for 0, then Banham, in at 3, fiddled for a couple of balls, watched as the bowler lost his line conceding 5 wides then smashed his last ball for six over point ! 12/1 off 1 over. Kevin clearly decided on an attacking policy as his next scoring shot, a one bounce four, was similar to the first. Brom quickly cottoned on to this and he was out shortly afterwards, caught at deep cover, trying to repeat the shot.
Olly Magnus joined Reuben, and a period of consolidation followed, before Reuben chased a wide one to be caught behind and then Richard Sexton spooned one up to mid - on to leave Copdock in peril once again at 60/4. New signing Paul Hollis, now recovered from his lung busting partnership with Clive K at Clacton the previous week, arrived at the crease and soon got into his stride, finding the middle of his bat with regularity. Together with Olly the pair moved the score onto 110 and hopes of a decent total before Olly drove firmly back to the bowler and a touch on the ball onto the stumps left Paul short of his ground.
Cuffy and Brad came and went as the chase for maximum runs continued and it was left to John East to get us past the 150 mark, and something to bowl at, with a towering six over mid - wicket.
Gt Bromleys innings got off to a solid start, thanks to some early wayward bowling from Underwood, and he was soon replaced by Rich Sexton. Eek then had Lamont adjudged LBW and, after a brief partnership, N Holyman and Perrin went in quick succession to leave Brom at 60/3. Eek continued to cause problems for all the batsman and it was no surprise when he collected two further wickets, bowling Lawson and S Day in successive balls, before completing his spell of 14 overs 4/34. Brad also chipped in when he bowled Wareing, leaving the visitors at 101/6 and Copdock with a real chance of victory.
Unfortunately, however, neither Eek or Brad were able to winkle out the key wicket of Foley, back with Gt Bromley from Hampshire 2s, for one game, who went on to win the game single-handedly, finishing on 78 not out.
