Match report Copdock Phoenix narrowly missed out on a clean sweep of victories in a high scoring game which leaves the potential league champions place wide open as Woolpit stiill have three league matches to play.

Playing with only 9 players Phoenix struggled to bowl, and sure enough boundaries were leaked with alarming regularity. Even when the boundaries dried up for while Woolpit continued topick up easy singles. Woolpit closed their innings on 150 leaving one of the stiffest run chases imaginable.

Edward Hughes made a quickfire 30 not out of just 11 balls to put Woolpit under some early pressure and despite solid innings from Joe Williams (30* off 31 balls) and Rob Doig (26 off 31 balls) lots of singles went begging which might have made the difference.

Needing 23 off the last over, even a late return to the wicket from Edward Hughes and 16 runs off the over saw Phoenix fall 8 runs short of a draw, 9 of a win.

Man of the Match was Edward Hughes with an impressive 40* off just 14 balls
