Match report And so our new journey begins.. After a few pitch challenges we were fortunate to start our season at the Copdock Oval.
Winning the toss skip chose to bowl first. Our first 20 overs were decent but perhaps a tad ring rusty which is to be expected. At drinks at 20 overs the two experienced Woolpit openers had taken the score to 79, so decent control but no break though. After drinks our fortune changed, Ben got our first wicket with a short ball dragged on and then Rips took a very good catch at deep square off a Fred full toss. The two young spinner Fred and Jack bowled well and with a good shape in the Filed we kept the pressure up. Wilf came on and got a wicket second ball thx t a good catch standing up by Carbs, and two 14 Year olds in Wilf and Nathan bowled he death overs well each picking up a deserved wicket.
So a total of 160 in 40 was a total we would have been very happy with, a decent bowling display and some very committed fielding, not least from "shins" Chris HC, and good effort from the Cat Carbs.
Nick and Jack got us off to a flyer with 42 coming off the first overs with a series of boundaries, before Nick nicked a good one behind. We then got a but stuck against a couple of slow bowlers , more work to do on this i think in terms of how we play, this together with some hesitant running saw the runs dry up and Carbs holed out quickly followed by Fred who struggled to get going. Ben then joined Jack, their partnership was not without moments but to their credit they added 70 to see us home. Huge Credit to Jack for his high quality and mature 81 red , without him things could have ben very different.
So overall a good start with lots of positives and things also to build on in the comings weeks.
