Match Report

On a Sunny evening at Copdock, in which the under 11s Phoenix team were playing their first league match of the season, the Phoenix captain Acer Austin.won the toss and decided to bat.

When the Copdock Phoenix’s batted there was some good batting by the first pair Acer and Oscar Tier and they put on 39 in their 4 overs and only got out once and this partnership ended up being the best of the match.

The second pair for the Phoenix’s Sam Behnia and Fergus Quinn put on 16 in their 4 overs and lost two wickets, bot to run outs.

The third pair for the Phoenix’s Adam Crispe and George Garnham put on 31 and didn’t get out at all, so well done to Adam and George.

The fourth pair for the Phoenix’s was made up of three players as both teams on the night agreed to play 9 vs 9, so Cameron Patchett, Sebastian Fox and Moses McKnight and between them they managed to score 18 runs for 1 wicket.

So a good all round batting display and at the end of their 16 overs the Phoenix’s scored 104 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, so -5 runs for each wicket meant the team scored finished at 84.

When the Phoenix’s bowled there was some good bowling from all, with Adam being the star bowler taking 2 wickets and a run out and all the bowling figures were.

Adam bowled 2 overs 7 runs for 2 wickets.
Sam bowled 2 overs 14 runs for 1 wicket.
George bowled 2 overs 11 runs for 1 wicket.
Acer bowled 2 overs 11 runs for 0 wickets.
Moses bowled 2 overs 13 runs for 0 wickets.
Oscar bowled 2 overs 10 runs for 0 wickets.
Cameron bowled 2 overs 17 runs for 0 wickets.
Sebastian bowled 2 overs 13 runs for 0 wickets.

There was also 2 run outs.

Also Fergus kept well for 10 overs and Oscar also kept well for 6 overs.

Overall fielding was okay, but for sure there is some room for improvement in many areas of fielding over the weeks ahead.
At the end of Hadleigh’s 16 overs they achieved 87 runs, for the loss of 6 wickets, so with -5 runs for each wicket, this meant their team score was 57 and therefore the Phoenix’s had won by 27 runs.

A good team performance from all the boys and we look forward to our next training session on Sunday and further games in June.
