Match report A glorious, sunny day was the backdrop for our visit to wiles of Lakenheath. 2XI debuts were handed to Arthur Phoenix, David Cousins, Lewis Millions and Max Underwood. After winning the toss Copdock elected to field. An opening bowling pair with 40 years age difference kept the Lakenheath batsmen in check in the opening 10 overs, with Towers in particular regularly finding the right line and length. Once they had settled in the Lakenheath batsmen began to increase the pace, scurrying well between the wickets and finding the odd boundary too. Eventually East got rid of the opening pair with the assistance of the returning Thomas, but the platform was laid to allow Lakenheath to accelerate further. Millions and Gauke were both luckless and skipper East turned to Towers to finish the innings off. Cameron belied his young years to bowl with discipline and picked up a deserved 3 wickets, undoubtedly the star performer with the ball. Notable mentions in the field for stalwart Snorey, Jack Mexome and Arthur. A final total of 242 was more than it looked like at one stage but not far from par.
After a tea that matched the facilities the Copdock chase began in disappointing fashion as Cousins was LBW for 1. Copdock advanced past 50 without further alarm with Snorey and Mex looking untroubled. However when Snorey chopped on for 21 and Mex followed shortly after the collapse began as a disciplined Lakenheath attack ran through the remainder of the Copdock batting. There was even some self-sabotage as in a desperate attempt to save money Ironfist gave Max a broken bat. Lewis Millions made a gritty 13* but unfortunately no one else was able to stay with him.
