Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Copdock Cardinals U11 v St Margarets on Wed 16 Aug 2017 at 5.30
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won By 126 runs

Match report On a Sunny Wednesday evening, at Copdock cricket club, the Copdock Cardinals won the toss and decided to bat.
Copdock started their innings very well, with both the opening batsmen, Lucas Howard, 27, retired, and Shaanjeai Tharaneetharan 25 retired, putting on another opening 50 partnership, then the momentum was kept going by Conner Holdcroft, who also retired for 25, and Sam Slater 16, and Copdock reached 99 of the first 10 overs, then despite the loss of three quick wickets, Slater, Louis Hembry and Thomas Liddy all falling to some good bowling from Charlie Booth, the Cardinals then went again with Archie Magnus 27, retired and Oliver Carr 18 both batting well and then James Fishenden 5 not out and Henry Clark 1 not out, all helped push the final score up to 174-4 off their 20 overs.
When St Margaret’s batted, Copdock bowled well from the start with Clark bowling 2 overs for only 1 run and Fishenden bowling 2 overs for 4 runs both bowling very accurately. Then Harrison Strand bowled two overs and took two wickets, both from good catches by Slater and Tharaneetharan, then Liddy bowled his two overs well taking a wicket and only conceding 3 runs, there was also a wicket each for Tharaneetharan, Magnus, Hembry and Howard and overall all the Copdock bowlers kept good control. Also Holdcroft kept wicket very well throughout as well.
So in the end St Margaret’s finished on 48-8 after their 20 overs, meaning the Cardinals won by 126 runs.
A very good overall team performance from all the Cardinals, with good individual performance from many, and it was good to see the skills that have been worked on in practise of the last 16 weeks, with regards to our batting, hitting the bad balls for 4, scoring singles more regularly throughout the innings, running strongly between the wickets and turning 1’s into 2’s and 2’s into 3’s, then in the field some good catching, and some good ground fielding too and some much improved accurate bowling at the stumps by all the bowlers as well, so well done to all 11 lads.
Lucas Howard takes the Cardinals man of the match performance, for his strong all round display firstly with the bat and then with the ball bowling his 3 overs for just 2 runs and taking one wicket.
