Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost by 40 runs

Match report The Pheonix season kicked off on a pleasant if chilly night at the "Oval" with our old friends Felixstowe our opponents. phoenix had 7 of 8 on club debut, and some of the guys playing their first ever proper game of cricket. Captain March won the toss and chose to bowl.
Overall a good effort from the team on bowling, with some of the guys very new to this noble art, though we would hope in future to reduce the 44 we gave the opposition in wides and no balls. We were controlling things well until the last 2 overs when we leaked 30 runs which probably took the game away from us.
We tried hard when we batted but losing 6 wickets, mostly bowled to their 1 made it tricky!. In the end a 40 run loss was probably a fair reflection of the game. The boys played the game in a great spirit and lots of learning opportunities for us as we head to our next game on the 23rd May.
