Match report Cavaliers v St Margaret’s CC U15s – Thursday 16 May 2016

Cavaliers (209 - 5) beat St Margaret’s (44 for 8) by 165 runs

Many thanks to St Joseph’s College for the use of their grounds, Ian Evans for scoring, Pete Reddington for umpiring and Carl Hatcher for procuring drinks.

Cavaliers’ skipper Will Seitam won the toss and elected to bat against a nine-man St Margaret’s.

Dan Leggett and Dillon Hatcher opened the batting, moving swiftly to 48 after five overs.

The 100 came up in the 9th over and the following ball Leggett reached his 50. He was replaced by Harry Reddington who declared his intent with a six off the first ball he faced.

Reddington was caught and bowled in the 11th over attempting another aggressive and lofty shot, and the score was 113 for 1.

Next man in was James Doig, and soon afterwards Hatcher was caught behind for 32 with the score on 120.

Seitam was next man in and opened his account with two fours in consecutive balls. At the end of the 12th the score was 129 for 2.

It was 155 for 2 after 15.

In the 18th, Doig was out caught for 23 with the score on 185, and next man in was Joseph Clifford.

In the 20th, Seitam holed out for an aggressive 36 with the score on 200.

James Dines was next in. He was out on the last ball, with the score 209 for 5. Clifford was undefeated on 11.

Will Stace opened the bowling for the Cavaliers, taking a wicket in the first over when Seitam dived forwards to take an excellent catch.

Byron Evans opened the bowling from the other end, picking up a wicket, bowled, with his third ball.

Seth Green bowled the 5th, taking a wicket caught Dines, who also bowled the 6th.

There was a run out in the 8th, at the end of which the score was 19 for 4.

Oli Hurst bowled the 9th, with Dines staying on at the other end to bowl the 10th, picking up a wicket, bowled.

At the halfway point, St Margaret’s were 21 for 5.

In the next over, Hurst took a wicket with his first ball, caught Seitam.

Stace returned for the 12th and Evans for the 13th.

Green took the 7th wicket in the 16th, with the score on 35.

Dines took the 8th, and final, wicket, leg before, in the 18th, and the final score was 44 for 8.

It was a comprehensive victory and the Cavaliers played very well, albeit that (hopefully) they will face more testing opposition in forthcoming games.
