Match report The strongest 2nd XI side for some time was fielded as the 2008 season went underway. The aging appearance of the majority of our opponents Woolpit CC was quite misleading. Batting first Copdock & Oi’s openers Gauke and Taylor looked in confident spirits until Taylor managed to slap back a straight one to the bowler. And that kind of set the scene for the rest of the innings. A crack of light through the door came in the form of debutant and Ipswich School captain Ed Pope 40 not out. Having toured the Caribbean a few weeks earlier he appeared in good shape and picked his shots in good order – well done. His bodyguard drove him hastily away post innings in a bullet proof Mini Cooper!
Needless to say we scraped a measly 128 between us - never enough.

In response the ever reliable opening bowling partnership between Underwood and Catchpole continued. An excellent 5 wkt return from Druitt combined with good support from Banham however was not enough and our visitors completed a fairly convincing victory. We look forward to the return match as I think we all felt on another day we may have romped it.
