Match report Copdock were back at the fortress, Old London Road, this week after beating Coggeshall last week. They took on the giant killing Abberton and expected a difficult game.

With Ipswich school playing it meant that Special Gravell was missing, as was the hard hitting Thomas. Hugh did state that he was desperate to play next week, as he has some unfinished business with Jon Kent and is hoping Jonsey prepares a hard, fast track!!

After the worst warm up in living memory, Abberton won the toss and elected to bat on a hot day and a 250+ track.

Deon opened the bowling, down the hill, as normal and Nose plugged away up the hill as he has done all season. Deon, now with added confidence, was a handful and took regular wickets. Nose bowled pretty well too and after 8 overs they were 12-2.

A brief partnership took Abberton to 40 and then Deon struck again and they were 3 down. With the score on 43-3 after 20 overs Eek turned to spin with Chris swallow and himself coming on.

What happened next was quite frankly very, very odd. In 9 overs Eek and Chris bowled Abberton out for 51. Eek took 5-5 and Chris got 2-4.

In between the carnage Noodles Rice took a great running catch at mid on. Eek grabbed a blinder at first slip and Jenko caught the sickest catch I’ve seen at Long on. This was after he shouted sh*t when it went up in the air, Burchy shouted No chance and Jenks ended up diving full length, backwards and caught it with the wrong hand. Brilliant.

We changed straight round and although we lost Sharpe and Jenkin to questionable LBW’s we knocked the runs off in 8.5 overs and the game was over before Tea had even arrived.

Well, 20 points in the bag this week… Sudbury next week in a huge game at home. School boys are back and a selection problems mean nets a must this week.
