Match report Well after last week’s excellent performance against Sudbury thing changed this week. Halstead won the toss on a flat one at Old London road and quite rightly batted. Copdock rung the changes. After last weeks 3-11 Jervis was dropped as was Thomas for scoring only 48! In came Davey, Baker and Druitt.

Halstead got off to a flyer with Nose bowling some absolute dross at Spatcher. The only surprise was that Eek let it go on for 3 overs. With Nose out of the attack Copdock turned to Suffolk / Minor Counties Trophy winner. He bowled 16 superb over and took 3-39. This along with an improved spell from The pro and Eek got Copdock back into the game. Nose did eventually get a second spell and took two wickets in the final couple of overs and bowled better. Halsted finished on 218-9.
I’ve deliberately left out any comments of the worst fielding I have ever seen… you can all guess the culprit.

Copdcok fancied chasing this down and started pretty well. Jenko spurred on by the prescence of his new beloved stroked the ball to all parts in a sparkling 40 odd. Sharpe fell cheaply and Davey soon followed, although he looked solid and got a tough LBW. When Jenko fell Nel and Swallow looked to be guiding Copdock to victory. Nel was again in top form… I heard somebody watching say actually prefer him to Jerv ( lets not get carried away people ). These two put on 80 before Nel slapped a long hop to cover. Wickets fell steadily from then on. Nose capped a fine display with a cr*p shot that started the collapse. Druitt was the last man out with the score on 198. Suffolk was left stranded on 68 not out. A really poor batting display as a hole left a nasty taste in the mouth… however we are still second!!!
