Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club

Scorecard

Sudbourne Hall v Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 02 May 2015 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report Copdock 3rds got off to a poor start to the season as yet again the most important part of the game was winning the toss as the slow rollercoast of a pitch was going to play a big part. Toss lost Copdock were put in to bat.
In the 5th over of the game Nick Meakin was trapped LBW for only two runs (4/1). Daran unfortunately didn't trouble the scores as he was caught for a duck (13/2). Chris Sparrow came to the crease to partner Kev Banham, the idea was to hang around and score some runs, however Mr Mark had other ideas as he bowled both Kev Banham (11) and Chris Sparrow (4) within two overs (20/4). Twenty seven runs were then put on the board by new boy Joe Plumstead (7) and Shoaib Alam (17) but these two were back in the hutch just after drinks (45/6). Two more wickets fell for just three runs Josh Crossley (2) & Dave Cousins (1) (48/8). A twenty three run partnership between Jack Spinner (23) & Charlie Lewis (14) pushed the score up slightly (71/9). Enter the Copdock legend Martin Soggy Taylor whos shouts for three runs were priceless as out of the eight times he shouted only once did they succeed. Jack & Martin pushed the score just past the hundred mark as Jack was then caught. 103 all out.
With just a small total to defend Chris Sparrow called on his bowlers to jsut make sure they bowled straight and let the pitch do the rest, in the first over this looked on the cards as a pie from Dave Pukka Cousins was played back on the stumps by the Sudbourne opener (2/1), unfortunately after this the bowling was a bit wayward as too many wides were being bowled, however Copdock stuck at it and after a mix up in the running the batsman found themselves at the same end and a great throw from Josh Crossley made sure one of them was on their way back to the pavilion (13/2). More wayward bowling prompted the skipper to make a change, however Sudbourne Hall kept the scoreboard ticking over as the moved towards victory. Two more wickets fell Kev Banham trapping the number 4 bat LBW followed by some great spin bowling from Jack Spinner who removed the opener by clean bowling him, alas this was not enough as Sudbourne eased past the total with eighteen overs to spare.
High point of the day was seeing Soggy dive full length to his right at cover to stop what looked like a certain four.
