Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report
The seconds visited IES looking to arrest a run of form similar to Saturdays venue, Dog Poo. Following last weeks abandonment Ironfist still rung some changes and Archie 'The Peacemaker' Gravell returned as did Ethan with Ashwin looking forward to a long bowl in the first team.

In blistering heat Captain Fantastic, keen to build on his 13 wickets, informed the team that they were to field. An enthusiastic warm up precluded the side wandering out to bowl. Some familiar faces in the IES side dished out some meaty blows particularly severe on any legside buffet. 'G' soon found the spot to remove Debenham, though the runs never really dried up. The fielding was keen (perhaps the threat on a mid game hose down had some impact) though energy soon flagged a little in the blazing sunshine. Glassford and Leach began to increase the scoring after Jenko snuck one through Bloomfield. The scoring rate stayed steadily at just over 4 an over even as East winkled out both Glassford and Leach in dismissals reminiscent of days gone past. Lander and Sproats looked well set for a late explosion on a decent platform having tucked into Gravells length. Lander enjoying a couple of slices of fortune, including a Reuben doing an impression of John Inman rather than pouch a straight forward one at midwicket. Luckily Sproats went with 3 overs to go but 221 looked a strong effort on a pitch which, whilst playing better than it looked, still held the occasional surprise.

A strong tea, which went someway to explain the physical specimens on show, saw discussions switch to the impending chase. Ironfist sent Sharpe and Gravell into the fray to face Mildenhall and Driver. Some glorious Gravell boundaries saw a good start for Flopdock and just as Reuben looked to be getting into his stride too he decided to kick a slow straight full toss and was sent on his way. Gravell followed soon after, snaffled hungrily at slip by Debenham off Driver again, and when 'Neverending' Storey also trudged back to the hutch Flopdock were 70 for 3 and in dire streets. As JP marched to the crease, fresh off the back of his first ever hundred (which doesn't count) to join Reg Hollis few were expecting the events to come. First third man was removed. Harry Lime naturally cashed in. Having negotiated Driver, Reg then tucked in to anything wayward, particularly savage on anything full peppering the deep straight extra cover boundary. As Reg Hollis rushed towards and past a brilliant 50, JP (coincidentlally looking a bit like Ted Roach from the Bill) began finding the boundary too with regularity. Having needed 150 off 25 overs and being on the backfoot things soon started to shift and the balance of power was tipping towards Flopdock. With only 48 needed off the last 10 the talk of how many we'd lose by began to shift to would Reg reach a deserved 100. Desperate for this not to be the case Jon 'Ted Roach' Percival began farming the strike and despite hitting the winning boundary with 3 overs to go Reg could muster only 95*, JP also boosting his average with a great undefeated half century. A brilliant partnership. A brilliant chase. A brilliant day at an incredibly hospitable IES, that even a bit of Ethan cheating couldn't spoil.
