Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 2nd XI v Mistley II on Sat 11 Jul 2015 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report After a disastrous June when Flopdock suffered a series of frustrating defeats, it was good to get back to winning ways with a comprehensive defeat over lowly Mistley.
The usual mass changes were made to the starting line - up. Gravell, Wright and Hodge were unavailable and Sharpe had childcare problems, but back came Hopkins following his run out with the 1s, Hollis, Felix Ward and Jenkin with a debut from Lowestoft import Karl Storey.
The Oval looked its usual immaculate self, a track full of runs on a warm, sunny day and, as the rest of the side took part in a gentle warm up, hoping for the best, but expecting the usual poor result of the toss, from Gunder, the skipper didn’t disappoint and Copdock were to bowl first !
Following the anticipated abuse from East and his cronies, the 2s prepared for a long afternoon in the field.
Copdock opened with the regular new ball pairing of Bhatt man and Gunder with almost instant success. In Bhatts first over, opposition Captain Stevens cut a wideish delivery only for Reg to take an excellent tumbling catch at gulley. Worse was to follow for Mistley as Gunder got into the act courtesy of a couple of loose shots and well taken catches. Bhatt then had numbers 4 and 5 adjudged LBW and Mistley found themselves at 25/5 with all their main batters back in the hutch. 25/5 soon became 40/6 as Jenko got in on the act. East had also been introduced to the attack at this stage as Mistley staged a mini fight back with a series of ungainly but effective wipes and slogs to take the total up to the 100 mark.
The reintroduction of pace, in the shape of Ashwin and Felix, soon paid dividends and Mistley were all out for a well below par 113.
There were 2 late wickets from Felix but the bowling of the Bhatt man really set the tone and he recorded superb figures 5 for 16 from 12 overs.
A changed opening partnership of Hopkins and Gauke were sent out to complete the second part of the job and they set about chasing the target with minimal problems until a well struck legside glance from Hopkins was somehow caught by the square leg fielder who appeared to be looking in a different direction.
Debutant Karl (Multi) Storey joined the Chairman and they continued to ease Flopdock to the total before Gauke tried one expansive drive too many and was bowled. This only brought young Felix to the crease and these two saw us home with more than half of the overs remaining.
A comfortable win against a Mistley side who are currently struggling at the bottom end of Div 3 but at the very least it stops the rot with tougher tests still to come.
This weeks awards
Tommy Cooper Blooper – Gunder for yet another loss of the toss !
Brian Lara Tiara – Ash the Bhatt Man with a terrific spell of fast inswing bowling.
