Match report

Sharks show little mercy to Kesgrave.

The Sharks arrived back inland at Copdock Oval buoyed by their recent victory at Felixstowe and determined to finish their season in style, they didn’t disappoint!

Regular Glovesman Brown was awarded the captaincy and proceeded to lose the toss (possibly the only thing this side has lost all season!) Kesgrave decided to bowl, Messrs Brown and the boys padded up.

Kajeal and Ewan opened up for the Sharks with a 24 ball 40 that speaks for itself, the remaining pairs continued to pile on the runs with some sublime strokes from Matthew, Max and Archie, excellent running throughout the team pressurising Kesgrave fielders constantly. Copdock Sharks 328-7.

Drinks were taken readily on this balmy summers evening and Kesgrave’s Batters entered the fray needing a positive start, they didn’t get it! Varun Sharma pegged back the off stump with balls one and three this was backed up by a brace of wickets from Max Puckey, three (more) wickets from the ever dependable Matthew Wilson and a Kajeal wicket. This display was not just about wickets, the Sharks could not have been more frugal with the ball if they tried, George Quinton leading the way with 11 dot balls in a row, backed up by the gloveless Ewan Green providing a maiden of his own. The Sharks took immense pleasure in only conceding 6 wide’s/no-balls (a possible U11 record, certainly a Sharks record) with overthrows being a word of the distant past, Monty Browns ever dependable keeping playing a key role also. Kesgrave finished their innings 115 runs adrift, Kesgrave 213-8.
