Match report A damp drying wicket with a weakend side with three 14 year olds and one person who had never played cricket before, only one thing to do, put the opposition in.
Once again the skipper lost the toss and not surprisingly we were asked to bat.

Dave Searle (81) and Harry Harvey (23) got us off to a brisk start putting on 112 in 20 overs for the first wicket, Dave Searle having been dropped, failed to respond to the call for the run having expected to be caught and was promptly run out.
We were then torn apart by two 13 year olds, one of whom made Boults look like Usain, the other of whom, if he keeps developing, will be one heck of a leg spinner in a couple of years.
Only Cuffy was able to show any resistance or application and having almost had a Gatting moment early on (leaving a ball that was almost called a wide outside leg stump, only to see it turn a mile and miss his leg stump by a whisker) went on to score 43. The other 8 amassed 13 between them.

All out for 179 and gifting the opposition 7 overs in the process. Game over!!

We started our defence with Harry bowling with good pace and accuracy and a rusty Gauky on the money from ball one. Scoreboard pressure was our only weapon and we kept it tight. Steve took an early wicket, but their opener and skipper dug in. 136 for 1 after 31 overs.
44 to win off 21 overs with 9 wickets in hand. We were dead and buried!

Enter stage left, the Doc. Switching ends after only one over, he promptly blowed the opener for 65. Then got No4 LBW for 6, no 5 caught for 3, the skipper caught for 65, hello 156 for 5 with 8 overs left.

It wasn't to be despite the best efforts of the bowlers well supported by the fielders the winning run was hit with 5 balls to spare. Giving away all those overs was very costly!

Great effort all around though in the field after a monumental batting collapse.
