Match report We finally had the road that Notcutts was promised to be after a week of sun and wind.
At last we won a toss and inserted DBSL. We started with 8 as Archie was on his way back from having fun on a skid pan and then KJ, came on to field to give us 10 on the park. A Fine opening spell by Harry and Oli kept things tight with just 60 runs coming of the first 15 overs. James Doig as first change kept things under control his spell of 4 overs costing just 17 runs. Shiob coming in as second change made the first breakthrough and followed this up in his second over when he removed the other opener. Runs started to flow, though wickets fell regularly, Shoib starting his second spell by bowling the man doing most of the damage to claim the first three wickets. Some good batting on a good track saw a big acceleration and after 32 overs DBSL had put 178 on the board. Harry and Oli came back on to finish off their permitted overs and immediately put the brakes on both of them bowling with pace and accuracy, the last 13 overs costing just 38 runs leaving DBSL on 216 for 8 after their 45 overs.
Harry and Archie went about the chase with gusto plundering the chuntering and wayward Brader while taking no risks with the accurate Garnham. When Archie holed out on the first ball of the 11th over the score was a healthy 75. Jacob supported Harry the pair of them taking the score to 121 before Harry was narrowly run out for 59 to a direct hit. Daren went the same way the next ball and Jacob was caught and bowled shortly after, the little collapse taking us to 127 for 4. Oli and Shoib put on another 20 before Oli played around a straight one. 143 for 5 with 15 overs left, and Rodgers and Curtis continuing to bowl tightly. Nick and Shoib decided to take no chances with them and saw them off without further loss while taking the few scoring chances that they offered and when Curtis finished his spell the score had moved on to 171 with 8 overs left. Shoib was bowled in the 38th over bringing James Doig to the wicket, 44 needed in the best part of 8 overs with 3 wickets in hand. DBSL kept it tight and James batted with great maturity but the next 5 overs only brought 14 runs. 30 off three to win. At last Rodgers finished his spell and the DBSL skipper brought Brader back on. Nick took 13 off his first over and was helped by a couple of wides and took the strike at the end of it. 15 needed off 2. A bye brought Doigy on strike and he was bowled "going for a big one". Sam got a single off his first ball and Nick went 4,4,1 off the final three balls of the 44th over. 4 to win from six balls. Brader duly obliged with the first ball, a full toss on leg stump, game over and a magnificent team effort with 10 men to beat a side that thought they had it in the bag from the 11th over of our innings.
