Halstead v Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 02 Jun 2012 at 11am
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 118 runs

Match report The Copdock Juggernaut rolled into Halstead On Saturday for this EAPL clash.

The Crusaders licking their wounds having tasted defeat for the first time in a year the previous week at the hands of Horsford. Nose was looking forward to his Norfolk call up soon.

Halstead were bottom of the table and Copdock were looking to bounce back to form and stop the “ Slump “.

Teeth was missing as he was on holiday with the little lady and her 17 friends, but did make an appearance later in the day on the way back from the airport, he looked Shagged!

Copdock lost the toss and were asked to bat on a damp, green wicket, not Ideal.

Nelly and Archie ( back from snake hunting duties ) opened up and Nelly, as now normal, got things off to a rapid start. He struck 10 boundaries on his way to 50 at better than a run a ball, only Eek in the EAPL has a better strike rate. Archie couldn’t keep up this week with the scoring and was hugely disappointed.

Nelly was unfortunate to give a catch with the team score on 51 and departed for exactly 50.

Dibbo ( the greatest batsman in world cricket, outside the first class game ) then joined Archie as the crease. These two then put on a superb display of batting and even managed to concentrate through the excellent game of bowls taking part on the boundary. Kinga was dreadful. Archie now outscored Dibbo at every turn. He hit more boundaries, took fewer balls and looked every part the senior partner. They added an unbroken 220. The way these two batted was a superb lesson in EAPL batting and as a new side to this competition was above the expected. Archie looked superb and may well get in the Suffolk frame, if he offers the right apologies to the right people... if not he can join Nose at Norfolk.

Pidge declared at 275-1. An excellent effort chaps! Possibly the best Copdock batting performance to date. 2 Tons !!

Halstead had it all to do. The pitch was still offering a bit of help and Copdock have been bowling pretty well.

Nose and Christi sorted the “ which end fiasco “ and both bowled well. Halstead looked a little short in the batting and never really got going. Nose struck twice early on and although a small partnership sprung up to take them to tea at 70-3 Copdock were in charge.

After tea Christi bowled with real venom and Jenko struck to remove Dakin ( arm pointing et al. ) and wickets started to tumble.

With Halstead 7 down and time running out Nose came back to pinch a couple more and make it 5 for the afternoon, Christi then wrapped it up and claimed 4 wickets for himself.

Eek was livid that Nose went for under 2 and over again, livid!

An excellent win for the Crusaders, but a few things to note guys:

1) Nelly smacks it
2) Archie outscored Dibbo
3) Jed loves wearing pads
4) Nose is going to Norfolk ( with Archie)
5) Fielding continues to be under our high standards
6) Throw the ball to Kinga
7) Attitudes need to improve
8) We are a team

The future’s bright, the future’s Copdock
