Match report Another convincing victory saw the 2nd XI continue their climb up the Div 4 table.

On a belting track and with the ground looking a picture Copdock inevitably lost the toss and Wivenhoe opted to bat first. The experienced pair of Underwood and Catchpole opened the bowling and as usual kept things tight. With wickets falling regulary Wivenhoe stalwart "Ned" Kelly was forced to bat conservatively and it was not until he was joined by Green and then Clarke did Wivenhoe look like posting any kind of decent total. Kelly eventually finished on an excellent unbeaten 93 but 184 always looked a well below par total. All the Copdock bowlers performed well, Underwood picked up 3 wickets and Shorts did a great job behind the stumps.

Martin Taylor and Jamie Green opened the Copdock innings, and once again Sogwag got us off to a flyer. Always ahead of the run rate the opening partnership laid the perfect foundation. Soggy struck a quickfire 42 and when he was eventually dismissed the way was clear for Mark Burch to do his stuff!!

Batting with great confidence Burchy stroked the ball all round the park and completely dominated the Wivenhoe bowling. His 67 not out was a really classy innings and with excellent support from first Green and then Baker, Mark completed the run chase with 10 overs to spare.

This was definitely one of Copdock's best performance of the summer and bodes well for future games. The challenge now is to maintain this momentum against Earls Colne next week...
