Match report Copdock Crash in Derby Day Season Finale

Well the clique that is the first team travelled to Chantry park this weekend to take on the mighty IES in a local derby with the league won and nothing to play for.

Jerv was missing, Dave Raj was also unavailable, so in came Ian Sword and the Cat. Reuben still kept his place and was in search of 4 more runs to take his season tally passed 60.

Eek won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first and an absolute belter of a track. In fact it was the best track we’d ever seen at IES. A real credit!

So Ben opened up with Sasha and they made it to 15 before Ben was first out with 1000 runs for the season reached. Wickets fell at regular intervals even with eek going up the order to number four. His duck was the longest of the season, similar to Sasha’s at Coggeshall and Tom Davy’s last year at the very same ground.

So when Nose ran Nelly out the score was only 45 for 4. This became 72 for 6 with the departure of Thomas. Nose and Jenko then put on 120 and Nose went on to chip it around and finally reach 87, before his luck ran out! The innings finished on 209-7 and Jenko a cheeky red inker of 52 not out!

On reflection a good recovery and should have been enough on this track!

Having changed things around for the last game, Chris opened the bowling with Ben and IES were stalling in reply at 38-3. Chris picked up 2 and Ben one!

Then Rob Glassford took over and powered to a 100 in next to no time. When he was out on 105 the score was 143-4. Hugh Thomas dropped him on 36 and OMG was it a dolly!!

Cat bowled throughout the reply and bowled ok. He picked up 2-73 from 15 overs and it’ll be a learning curve for him. Rather than push for the win, Eek used the game to blood the youngsters and also give Jenko and Nelly the chance to bowl!

In the end IES got home with 7 balls to spare. The game was close but IES took the bragging rights….

A Great season for the club finished on a slightly damp squib…. However in reflection….CHAMPIONS !!!!! WHOOP – WHOOP!!!

With the off season now rapidly approaching Copdock will look to strengthen further…. Lots of Irons in lots of fires!

It was nice to see most of the club out on Saturday night…… whatever may have been said!!!!!!!!!

The future’s Bright, the Future’s Copdock.
