Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club

Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club - Minor Counties Fixture

Dear Members

This year will see the club hosting its first ever three day Minor County Championship game at the club on the 4th/5th/6th of August versus Northumberland.

This is  a huge honour for the club, and reflection of the progress we have made in the past five years, though it is also a big responsibility to ensure we deliver the goods!!

This note aims to highlight both the opportunities for you to get involved and support this event, and areas where we need your help to make things happen. Please can you give every consideration to how you can play your part as a member of the club.

Sunday 4th August: Day 1. Play starts at 11 am, entry is free to all attending. Car parking around the ground is available but limited to 60 places, gates open for access from 9am. The Suffolk County Cricket club will be offering a VIP package, please click here, for the bargain price of just £10 a head. This offer is open to all Copdock and OI members, please complete the form and send back to Norman Atkins.

In addition the Suffolk Cricket Board will be on site with the "Fun factory" from 10.30-4pm so please bring the kids along to watch some great cricket and let off some steam on the fun factory.

The bar will be open all day serving all sorts of refreshments, and even ice creams if the sun shines..

Monday 5th August: Day 2 Play again starts at 11 am, entry and car parking as per day one, along with bar and refreshments.

At lunchtime the Suffolk County Cricket Club will be holding a "tribute lunch" to Phil Caley, the former Captain and OI. Again tickets for the lunch are available to all Copdock members, simply click here and complete the form and post to Norman Atkins. It should be a great day.

Tuesday 6th August: Day 3 Play starts at 11am, entry and car parking as days 1+2, ditto bar and refreshments.

As you can see lots going on, much of which is already planned and organised but we need help in the following areas:

1. Pre-event general grounds and site maintenance. We want our club to look its very best and lots of hedge cutting, weeding etc etc to do. Rather than set pre dates, please tell me when you can spare and hour or two and I will meet you there, email
martin_w_taylor_@Hotmail.com

2. Ground set up on Friday 2nd and Saturday the 3rd, again lots to do to get 100% ready, please email Martin as above if you can spare an hour.

3. Car Park attendants: We need 4 people Sunday 8.30-12, and two people Monday and Tuesday same time to help with car parking duties. If you can help please email Steve on gaukesteve@hotmail.com

Many thanks

Martin Taylor
