It had to happen eventually; the Copdock U18s tasted defeat in the Mid Week Cup comptetion, their first loss in over two and a half seasons.
Playing former Div 1 winners RHS away we bowled and fielded exceptionally well throughout the oppositions innings and were very well led by captain on the day Archie Wilkinson who kept the boys well motivated and lively in the field.
A total of 113-8 by RHS looked pretty achievable given the good wicket and fast outfield. The pick of the Copdock bowlers were probably Harry Harvey (1-11) and Oli Williams (4-15), although all 5 lads bowled well.
In reply, whilst several Copdock batters got themselves in, only Matt Searle (36no) was able to go on to post a decent score and we eventiually fell 19 runs short to a good RHS bowling attack.
There is no shame in this defeat and the boys should be very proud of their efforts and conduct throughout this hard fought match; which cannot be said about some of the RHS players constant chirps at the umpire.
