Great Horkesley & Lexden 2nd XI v Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 24 Aug 2014 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 29 runs

Match report Our first game in a long time and 10 players in various states of fragility after enjoying the summer ball, but a lovely summer afternoon to help clear the aching heads.
The pitch looked ok so having won the toss we decided to bat.
Dave and Archie started briskly putting on 72 for the first wicket on a pitch that turned out to be very slow and kept very low. Others got a start and then got out and wickets fell rapidly. Their spinner proved to be almost unplayable, 3 over 5 for 2 telling a significant story and we lost our 9th and final wicket it the end of the 27th over all out for 119.
There was noticeable relief from Lexden, having hammered them at Copdock earlier in the year and having made such a good start they were celebrating their forth coming victory over tea.
We started with spin to make life as difficult as possible for them with Dave and Steve bowling with accuracy. 6 overs for six runs and only 3 scoring shots proved too much for Highfield who skied the first ball of the 7th over, Jacob running from behind the stumps to take a fine catch near point. The batsmen has crossed and his partner had also lost patience holing out to Archie at cow corner 2 balls later. 7 for 2 off 7 overs.
The pressure was maintained Manhire spooning one to Gauky at mid wicket in the 13th over and the following over the dangerous Fitzgerald drove one to deep mid off, the Doc taking a fine catch to give Gauky his first wicket. 32 for 4 off 14. Dave and Steve kept the pressure on Steve taking 2 more another fine catch from Jacob from another skied shot and a plum LBW. 40 for 6 off 20 and we were looking at snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
Charlie took over from Dave and Flo from Steve. Flo forcing a mistimed shot from Hassan who holed out to Dad at mid off with her 3rd ball. 47 for 7. In her second over she caught and bowled Hassan's brother and then bowled Hart second ball, 59 for 9 off 24 overs an improbable victory now looked a certainty. Lexden's final pair dug in and things stopped going to hand. Oli replaced Charlie who found the edge a number of times but always too wide of slip and keeper and running off for 4. The final pair resisted for a further 12 overs with the score creeping up. With a last throw of the dice the skipper turned to Archie's legendary leg spin which was enough to have Laitt try and play one shot too many and he struck a full toss straight at Oli who took a fine catch to complete a magnificent performance in the field and earn us the win.
