Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Sunday XI v Mistley on Sun 23 Aug 2009 at 1.00pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost by 5 wickets

Match report Copdock in Freefall!
It was only due to a 10 point penalty to the mighty Cogg, that stopped Copdock from dropping into the bottom 3 this weekend! Things started well, we had 11 and we won the toss on a typical stinking hot day, so we batted! Thomas and Gravell opened up, after the first ball went for 4 byes, the second was blatted through cover on the up by the captain, good start!!! Gravell was dropped 2nd ball but was looking otherwise good. Either Gravell or the Captain should have made more of their starts. Thomas perhaps unlucky to nick a good ball from Barton, Gravell falling in softer circumstances pushing a caught and bowled back to Dove! Ashwin Raj came in and carried on his majestic form of late, stroking an effortless 68. But then for some reason with Long On back he tried to take him on and clothed it down his throat, what did he do that for?!?!? With the skippers sculpted torso on view (as he'd spilt chocolate ice cream on his shirt) the Copdock Crusaders collapsed as usual. From a position of strength 144-2 to subside to 197 all out in 20 overs is frankly poor. The lack of experience in this side is testament to the poor availability from some of the more senior players in the club.
Into a fine tea, with plenty of pizza, always a good sign! Copdock knew that with the speed of the outfield, they would need to take wickets to win this game.
Mistley got off to a good start, putting on 89 for the first wicket. Eventually the Cat got the first wicket; however, this brought to the crease, Senerathna, whose hitting we saw in cricket week, who smashed 40 in about 12 balls! This took the game away from copdock realistically. It was young Tom Harwood, 13, who got rid of Senerathna, with a beautifully flighted leg break caught Cook. A few batsman came and went, the captain came on to bowl with more control than ever bowling 5 good overs really, he even bowled a maiden!
In the end Mistley knocked the runs off with ease, I dont enjoy losing, we've now lost 4 in a row, I want to see all the kids at training Thursday night and I hope more people make themselves available!
6-9
