Match report Copdock Lose Home Record.

Having broken the losing record away from home, Copdock lost their 100% home record. Being a home game there was no issue with transport getting to the game, a pleasant relief.
Copdock lost the toss and were invited to bat. Tom Davey only managed 5, which brought Mark Burch to the crease. Mark proceeded to score his 4th consecutive 50 for the club in the PDQ league, a fine effort. Hopefully this week Mark will be able to go all the way and post a three figure score. Copdock were relatively slow throughout the middle stages of the game and it wasn't until Shorten came out at the end who really managed to up the rate, biffing 44 off 26 balls. Hugo Gravell batted well for 36 not out.

After the break Copdock went out to field confident of bowling C&EE out, with James East leading the attack. Unfortunately the C&EE openers took a bit of a liking to the gentle inswingers! At no point when the seamers were on did Copdock really look like taking the first wicket! So as usual it was left to the spin of Catlow and the Slow bowling of Gauke. The pair took 5 between them, with Catlow looking unplayable at times. Gauke picked up one wicket with a fine slip catch from the Captain. Copdock went through the C&EE middle order and were on top, however they failed to remove O'Brien who was to score 106* for the Colchester side. It was O'Brien who won the game with Jayasooriya at the end, with a couple of dropped catches proving costly.

Next week onto Copford thankfully another home game! Perhaps the captain may even score some runs!
