Match report Copdock edge thriller in last over victory.

Brentwood won the toss and opted to bat first. Copdock took to the field with representatives from U12’s upwards for their first real test of the season so far. Openers Cameron Towers and Sam Paisley bowled fairly well with the pink ball and Brentwood didn’t get off to a flyer in the opening power play overs but with a few misfields were looking solid and set a good base. Sam removed the big hitting Davy but after a few catches went down a 2nd wicket partnership of 44 followed by 36 for the third wicket we were looking at possibly and very tough chase. However, George Bennett, Tom Harper, Lewis Millions and James Whittle all chipped in with some tidy overs and wickets to restrict Brentwood to 130. Lewis ending up with 4-40.

In reply Captain Will Froggatt and Tom Harper opened up knowing that sensible batting would see us home with overs to spare. To be fair they both took control and batted beautifully putting on 82 for the first wicket before Will retired 53*. With lots of time and plenty of wickets in hand we were in a great position to go on and win the game. However, Arthur ran himself out first ball and Dan missed a straight one. Panic was starting to set in. George was bowled for nought and all of a sudden everyone had their pads on and it was starting to get a little tense. Lewis and Sam restored some order and with 6 needed off the last over Lewis hit 2 fours off the first 2 balls and victory was ours!

A really good effort-by all particularly by the younger guys in the team. Going forward we need to take our catches and field with more urgency if we are to keep progressing in the competition. Well done. It could be coming home.....
