Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 2nd XI v Dunmow on Sat 26 Aug 2017 at 12.30pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 82 runs

Match report After last weeks derailment against Kelvedon flopdock were keen to reverse their fortunes as Dunmow came to the Oval. With Podge enticed back into the firsts with the promise of a lunch and a tea, Bailey returned for the Twosaders. Gallavanting duo Thomas and Gravell also returned in place of Mexome and Marston.

After winning the toss Flopdock decided to bat on a decent day and another belter of a wicket. Gravell and Sharpe were soon stroking it to all parts, both punishing anything off line. As the score rattled along it looked like being a long day in the field for Dunmow. The bowlers stuck to the task and the rate dropped under a run a ball at the drinks break, but with 137 runs on the board and two well set batsmen a big total looked in the offing.

Perhaps taking Nose's pep talk at drinks too much to heart Gravell holed out soon after for an excellent 58 and was soon followed by Sharpe for a well crafted 64. Snorey set about consolidating and left the blistering strokeplay to "The Tramps Graham Hick" Percival. Flat track bully Percival tucked into the Dunmow attack in the reverse fixture and was some helping himself to some more buffett as impotetus was added to the innings. Percy and Snorey fell looking to push on, leaving Nose to accumulate another 0 as the final overs loomed. Any thought of a typical collapse were extinguished as uickly as Jenko could voice his concerns by tubby Thomas and M-M-Mlambo. With some scampering, some scoops and some hefty blowing Copdock finished with an impressive 266 off the allotted 45. A good score, though maybe 20 short of what was possible at the halfway mark.

The Dunmow innings got off to a poor start with Harry's hammy tweaking in his first over and Nose bowling some wayward stuff. In truth the bowling and fielding display was below par. M-M-Mlambo's spell summing up the innings perfectly. Good balls got wickets, but there was enough four balls floating around for the batsmen to score. Whilst never looking like losing, the winning margin of 80 odd runs could easily have been more.
